Scheme of Examination:

The examination will be held in three Parts, viz. (i) PART- I: Preliminary Screening Test (Objective Multiple Choice Question) (ii) PART- II: Written Examination (Conventional Type) followed by (iii) PART- III: Viva- Voce Test., as detailed below.

PART- I: Preliminary Screening Test (Objective Multiple Choice Question): 100 Marks

This OMR based Test will carry 100 marks having 100 questions of 1 (one) marks each comprising of Multiple Choice Objective Type Questions.

PART- II: Written Examination (Conventional Type): 400 marks.

A selective no of candidates who will qualify on the basis of merit in The Preliminary Screening Test will be called for Written Examination of 400 marks (Conventional Type).

PART- III: Viva- Voce Test: 50 Marks

A selective no of candidates who will qualify on the basis of merit in The Written Examination (Conventional Type) will be called for the Viva- Voce Test of 50 marks.

Final merit list will be prepared on the basis of total marks obtained in the PART - II & PART- III examinations taken together.

Scheme of Examination:

Part-I Examination:

Part-II Examination:

6. METHOD OF RECRUITMENT:-

A. Preliminary Written Test (Full Marks - 100): -

i) Applicants provisionally considered eligible will have to appear in an MCQ based preliminary written test which is qualifying in nature.

ii) There would be 100 objective type questions having multiple choice (four choices) of answers carrying equal marks each.

iii) The duration of this test will be 1(one) hour.

iv) Question paper will be set in two languages (Bengali & Nepali).

v) Questions of the Preliminary Written Test shall be from the following subjects:-

B. PHYSICAL MEASUREMENT TEST (PMT):-

The physical standards (height and weight) of the candidates as given under 3(e) will be tested by using Electronic Machines of those who qualify in the Preliminary Written Test.

C. PHYSICAL EFFICIENCY TEST (PET):-

Candidates who qualify in PMT will be allowed to take part in PET which consists of 1600 (Sixteen hundred) meters run within 06 (six) minutes 30 (thirty) seconds.

7. FINAL WRITTEN EXAMINATION (Full Marks – 85):-

i) All the candidates who qualify in the Physical Measurement Test (PMT) & Physical Measurement Test (PET) will be called to appear in the Final Written Examination to be conducted by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board.

ii) The Final Written Examination will have 85 (eighty five) Multiple Choice (Four choices) Objective Type Questions (MCQs) carrying equal marks each.

iii) The duration of the examination will be 1 (One) hour.

iv) Question paper will be set in two languages (Bengali & Nepali) except questions on English language.

v) Question of the Final Written Examination shall be from the following subjects:-

1) The candidates who have appeared or are going to appear in the final examination to acquire the requisite academic degree or professional qualification (as prescribed above) are also allowed to apply for the recruitment, provided that such candidates produce their final pass certificate/mark sheet of the qualifying examination, as per eligibility criteria, on the date of interview, failing which their candidature will stand cancelled without any further reference.

  • Application fee should be deposited in any branch of United Bank of India through a triplicate CHALLAN.
  • Candidate are required to download the CHALLAN from the website of the Company and take a printout of the same in A4 size paper and deposit in any branch of United Bank of India along with application fee.
  • After depositing fee, bank will provide Transaction ID and SOL ID which are required to be recorded during Online registration at the proper place in the Online Application Form by the candidates.
  • One copy of CHALLAN will be retained by the bank and two copies of CHALLAN will be handed over to the candidate by the bank.
  • The candidate will retain Applicant’s copy of CHALLAN and WBSEDCL’s copy of CHALLAN.
  • Bank will charge an additional amount as Bank’s Service Charge. Applicants applying under SC & ST (from West Bengal) and PwD category will not be required to pay any fee.
  • Application fee will have to be deposited from 28.12.2018 to 18.01.2019 during banking hours.
  • Demand Draft/Money Order/Postal Order or any other mode of payment is not acceptable.
  • Candidature of any applicant so registering oneself at the WBSEDCL’s online registration portal but subsequently failing to deposit application fee within 18.01.2019 shall be summarily rejected. Candidates are required to complete the entire process of submission of application and deposition of application fee to the bank within the aforesaid date positively.
  • Application fee shall not be collected by any other mode.
  • Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances. Candidates are therefore requested to verify their eligibility before paying applicable application fee, if any.

  • There will be a three-layered selection process viz. Written Test, Computer Proficiency Test and Personal Interview followed by Pre-Employment Medical Test as per prescribed rules of the Company.
  • The applicant(s) will be allowed to appear for Written Test based on the self-declaration submitted at the time of online registration and payment of prescribed application fee (wherever applicable).
  • The Written Test will be held in Kolkata. Depending on the number of applicants, WBSEDCL might arrange for an additional centre at Durgapur /Siliguri. However, WBSEDCL reserves the right to cancel/add any centre for Written Examination at its discretion.
  • Candidates will be shortlisted for Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) in 1:5 ratio (category-wise) of the advertised vacancies based on their performance in Written Test.
  • The Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) will be held in Kolkata and will cover MS Office (i.e.MS Word, MS Excel and Power Point).
  • Candidates will be shortlisted for Interview in 1:3 ratio (category-wise) of the advertised vacancies based on the combined performance in Written Test and Computer Proficiency Test.
  • The process of Interview will also be conducted at Kolkata.
  • Final selection will be made on the basis of fulfillment of prescribed eligibility criteria, combined performance in the Written Test, Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) & Interview, fitness in pre-employment medical examination, available vacancies and existing reservation rules of Govt. of West Bengal.

Qualifications:

A candidate must have the following qualifications which should be clearly stated in the application. The qualifications prescribed in the advertisement are as per the notified recruitment rules issued by the Govt. Candidates must fulfill the qualifications by the closing date of submission of application.

SCHEME & SYLLABUS

  1. Scheme of Examination :

The examination will be held in two successive stages, viz. (1) Written Test (Objective Type), (2) Personality Test, as detailed below.

Written Test: 100 marks.

The examination will consist of only one paper containing Multiple choice objective type questions on General Studies (50 marks) and Arithmetic (50 marks) and having 1 hour and 30 minutes duration.

Personality Test: 20 marks.

A limited number of candidates selected merit-wise on the results of the Written Test will be called to appear at the Personality Test.

Final Merit List will be prepared on the basis of the total marks obtained in the Written Examination and the marks obtained in the Personality Test.

A. The Examination will consist of only one paper on -

(i) General studies (Matters of common experience including every day science, current events and problems with special reference to India, elementary knowledge of Indian history and Indian Geography.
